Photo Shoot!

Yesterday Auntie M came over and spent five hours and much care taking some professional photographs of some tiered trays that I am hoping to sell.

Obviously, she is amazing.  Here are just some of the shots:

Auntie M is preparing to start a food blog, and she's been doing her research.  (She's also talented, which helps!)  She even baked food just for the shoot but you'll have to wait until she starts her blog to find out more about that.  :)

It was really fascinating to peek behind the scenes of how a photo shoot would unfold for a glossy magazine or a craft book.  We looked at the photos on her computer and made all kinds of micro-adjustments: smoothing out a wrinkled tablecloth, rotating a strawberry, adding or subtracting light, putting a folded piece of paper under a chocolate to lift it up just a little, etc.  None of this ever gets seen, of course.
But when you compare her behind-the-scenes photo (above) with mine (below) you can both see what goes on to make those pretty spreads (and that she just takes much better pictures than I do)!  Yep--backstage is chaos!

Here's how the photo taken above actually came out:

Many thanks to Auntie M for a great time!

Not only was the shoot fun, but guess what we had for lunch?

  1. I'm glad you are happy with the pictures - hopefully you will have lots of sales! I'm thinking I may have to collect some crystal pieces and commission you for a tiered tray.
