Sporadic Round-Up

Since my last round-up I've....

.... visited Grandma Shirley in Omaha

.... played board games with my sister and nephew
.... followed my nose and found that the garlic was drying on the porch.  I feel very safe from vampires!
... visited some dear friends with cute kids

... had my first joint art show with my husband at Gianna's Java and Gelato, a coffee shop that is also a fundraising effort on behalf of women escaping abuse.

Thanks to everyone who came and helped us celebrate!

My nephews are awesome!

Here’s some fun with nephews from April.

Alex enjoys soccer:

Conner’s school had an invention fair.  The students were tasked to find solutions to real problems in their own lives.  They even had business cards.  I thought it was really cool.  Conner’s invention was for feeding and entertaining his cat when he was at school (Conner, not the cat).

It was interesting to see what the kids considered to be their problems..... Most were about chores, but not all of them:

Weekly Round-Up

Since my last Round-Up.....

... I went with Arwen to get her ears pierced.  She was totally calm the whole time.

But still glad when it was over, I think.

... I volunteered at the Thrift Store with the merry madcap Stacy R.

... had more fun helping my sister Rachel get her bridesmaid's dress shorten then anyone else has on such an errand.  I know people.  My friend Carla of St. Ann's Sewing Studio, to be exact.  So we went over to her house to play.

... Taught Alex and Rachel to play Forbidden Desert, which we won.  It's a cooperative board game, a good choice for mixed ages.

Hope you have a great week!

Weekly Round-Up

Since my last Round-Up I....

... finished temping at a construction company.  I thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the world of buildings, and even got to do a little blueprint reading.  (You'll notice that I am pointing to a refrigerator.  I'm that good!)

.... went to a bridal shower for my cousin Megan

.... did a radio interview on Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities for Bastille Day
... played Settlers of Catan Junior with my sister Rachel and my nephew Alex.  Then Alex introduced me to Life.  (The game, not the existential state of being.)

We are huge Settlers of Catan fans, although we don't get to play it much because there are only two of us.  I liked the junior version.  My nephew, who is 8 years old and above-average intelligence played it just fine and enjoyed it.  I could even see getting it for Belovedest and me to scratch the Catan itch when there's only the two of us around.

Today we are selling beard oil at the Camp Creek Threshers annual threshing party and flea market in Waverly, NE.  Wish us luck!

Weekly Round-Up

This week I....

.... went to see Othello for free at Shakespeare on the Green in Omaha with my sister Rachel and my Uncle Steve.  An enjoyable evening with great company!

... set out more oregano to dry.

.... Belovedest harvested some chives.  We had enough to freeze on a cookie sheet.  Normally we just cut 5-inch lengths and toss it in a small and sturdy tupperware, unwashed.  It freezes and we cut it with scissor when we want to use it, taking out as many pieces as we need and leaving the rest.

... enjoyed the 4th with family.

Have a great week!
