Books on Fashion

I'm noting these here for teaching purposes.

This book is a fun history of clothes with lots of illustrations, many taken from portraits.  It's by James Laver.

This book would be easier to show students because of its uniformity and how the images are all organized the same way.  It is by Henny Harald Hansen, whose parents were apparently determined that he or she should be a walking example of bad spelling.

Here's a blurry photo from the second book to remind me of what I'm talking about.

Quotables: On Travel

People say you have to travel to see the world.  Sometimes I think that if you just stay in one place and keep your eyes open, you’re going to see just about all that you can handle.

Quotables: Sunday Thoughts

God wants the best for us, always.  With this in mind why should we worry about anything else?

Weekly Round Up

I am looking for summer temp work, so I had my first job interview in a decade with the state temp agency.  I'm optimistic that they'll find something for me.

Today gardening is getting restricted by rain..... Maybe we'll get the soil tests done--we already gathered the soil and it has been busy drying.

Last week I posed nice photos from Alex's First Communion.

HOWEVER, the party afterward was somewhat unruly, thanks to Uncle Magician.....

Painting Finished!

What to do with an unwanted painting of fruit?  (Shoulda taken a pic--it was somewhat less than stunning.)

I tweaked it thanks to input from Sam the Hamm and Gen.

We finally finished it!

My Husband-Much-Beloved says he is
up for more joint art projects…..
