1,000 Acts of Kindness

Here is where I am keeping track of my progress toward my goal to do a thousand different acts of kindness.  For each act, either the person or the action must be different.  (I am guessing that I will do many of the same actions over and over again, just for different people, but 1,000 different actions would be a lot harder!)

Why a thousand?  That number seemed inspiring and yet achievable. Why kindness?  Well, that's obvious, right?  Why on a blog?  No one is reading this blog, so it seems like a convenient place to jot these down. I hope keeping track will motivate me to watch for chances to add to my list.  :)

However, in the unlikely event that this blog does get noticed and if you recognize yourself as the recipient of one of these acts of kindness, please note that my intention is NOT to be condescending toward those I try to do something kind for.  It's not a kind of pitying charity -- more a joyful affirmation of our shared humanness.  So if you see yourself, I hope you feel pleased to be part of a happy little experiment.

1. December 29, 2022 - at home - called Fr. K in the nursing home just to say hi.

2. December 30, 2022 - at the mall - Mom and I were looking for gnome Christmas ornaments for Aunt Cathy.  We started chatting with this big guy in a Harley-Davidson jacket who was also looking for gnome Christmas ornaments.  His wife's family is from Gnome, Germany, and she collects gnomes.  Later when we were in the checkout line, he came up to us with an ornament that he'd found elsewhere in the store.  I thought it was really sweet of him to take the time to do that.  So when we were on another floor and found some gnome socks, I flagged him down (he happened to be nearby), and let him know that there were some gnome socks left.

3. December 31, 2022 - a friend's house - Brought a pavlova over to Dr. N and his wife for New Years Eve.  I arranged for someone else to make it, but it was still nicer than just bringing leftover ice cream, which was my first thought.
